You don't have to navigate your breastfeeding journey alone. From local groups where you can connect with other breastfeeding moms, to nutrition assistance and round-the-clock helplines, these resources are here to help you and your baby thrive.


Support Groups

These local and online groups offer community and support for breastfeeding moms in our area:

  • GALS - Gaston Area Lactation Support: Join us every Tuesday from 2–4 p.m. at The Birthplace at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia for free infant weight checks and breastfeeding support.
  • La Leche League: Offers breastfeeding information, education and support worldwide, with local groups in North Carolina and South Carolina as well as online options.
  • Charlotte Mothers of Multiples: Provides support services and community connection for mothers of multiples in the Greater Charlotte area.

Register for WIC

Access to proper nutrition is essential for breastfeeding moms and babies. WIC (Women, Infants and Children) is a free program that provides nutrition support and resources for eligible families. If you need support feeding your family, see how to register:
