Highlighting the People and Programs Advancing Our Community

Education
Investing in Tomorrow's Caregivers Through the Cares Campaign

CaroMont Health recently celebrated the official kickoff of the CaroMont Health Cares Campaign, a scholarship initiative designed to increase access to healthcare education and career training for students. The campaign has set a goal of raising $15 million, with more than $10.6 million raised to date. The celebration honored the inaugural class of Cares Scholars, including Sara Scoggins, Eli Johnson, Donna Burnett and Eevie Johnson, each receiving support for the licenses and certifications needed to begin or advance a healthcare career.

"The momentum behind the Cares Campaign reflects something CaroMont Health has always believed, that Gaston County's greatest asset is its people," said Mary Grace Bean, director of the CaroMont Health Foundation.

WOW Event Supports CaroMont Health's Mobile Mammography Bus

CaroMont Health's Mobile Mammography Bus provides 3D breast cancer screenings directly to patients, regardless of insurance status. Now approaching its tenth year, the bus serves approximately 3,000 patients annually, making it a vital resource for accessible and compassionate care in Gaston County. A grant from the CaroMont Health Foundation helps cover screening costs for underinsured and uninsured patients, increasing compliance with annual screenings.

A recent celebration hosted by WOW (Women Optimizing Wellness) raised funds to support the bus, with 80 percent of proceeds going toward the long-term goal of replacing the mobile unit and the remaining 20 percent supporting WOW's Safe Sleep Initiative.

Celebrating 10 Years of Team CaroMont

This year marks the tenth anniversary of Team CaroMont, the employee giving campaign that has grown into one of the CaroMont Health Foundation's most consistent sources of support. Since its start in 2015, Team CaroMont has given CaroMont Health employees and volunteers a way to support scholarships for coworkers, treatment and services for patients, and community health resources and initiatives.

Over the past decade, contributions through Team CaroMont have helped fund the Team CaroMont Scholarship, supporting employees pursuing further education, along with a broad range of programs across the health system.
